There are a few showers around, but these will be on the light side, and not last long at all. Essentially, especially after midday, it will be dry with some sunny spells, although as you can see, quite overcast skies at times. Temperatures are on the mild side to start, but go into decline later, but the expected temperature for the ceremony is around the mark PWS thought it would be. One thing – winds. It will get quite windy at times, and so, hat wearers beware.

Been to get a manicure etc from Affinity today. Then went to Karate… Karate with a manicure – classic Hannah!

Also, borrowed some gorgeous Swarovski Jewellery from Steffans and went to fetch our wedding cake from Hockleys. The plans are all in motion!

As we go into the eve of your wedding, the situation remains interesting weather wise, as a band of rain/sleet/snow pushes its way in overnight tonight, (Thursday), spreading north and east from the south west of the UK, to affect your region during Friday daytime. So for Friday, a grey day, with some sleet around to start, before that readily turns to rain during the afternoon and evening. Some of the rain will be on the heavy side, and it will persist into the night. However, current indications now suggest that the rain will clear away during the early part of Saturday morning, so essentially, it now looks like your day will be dry after all, with some spells of sunshine. A mild day too for January, 8c/46f, with a breezy west or southwesterly wind. Sunday too looks fine and dry, as does Monday. So to summarise, the threat of some early rain on Saturday, but PWS expects by 9 a.m., that should of cleared, to leave you with a dry wedding day, a mild wedding, but a breezy one. PWS will issue the final forecast tomorrow evening.

Mum has arrived for the wedding & it all seems so imminent! Exciting & scary!

Another shift in the forecast, and a case of some good news, and some bad news. The bad news is that some showers are now showing up on the system for Saturday. The good news however is two fold. Firstly, the showers are brief, and there will be no deluge to ruin the day, and secondly, because they are showing now and not in the next 24 hours, (do you remember from yesterday about Thursday being a crucial day in the weather build-up), there is a very good chance they will indeed clear out of Saturday. At the moment, Thursday will see just a couple of showers, nothing problematic, with Friday like many places in the UK now seeing either rain, sleet, or snow, and in your case, with temperatures in the 5 to 6 Celsius bracket, rain. The main bulk of the rain clears away during Friday night to leave the stragglers, in the form of those relatively fleeting showers for Saturday. By ceremony time, we are now looking at 5c/41f, so feeling mild, and hopefully tomorrow night, I’ll be able to tell you what few showers there are around for your day, have cleared away. The cloud does look fairly well fragmented, so I’m anticipating some spells of sunshine for Saturday. PWS will update tomorrow evening.

The weather continues to hold for Saturday. The sequence of days up to Saturday and beyond has changed a little though. For Wednesday, expect a rather overcast day with some rain showers from time to time. Thursday holds weather wise, with a dry day in prospect, and some sunny spells. Friday still looks rather wet, with some periods of potentially heavy rain. I still expect that rain to clear out of the way late on Friday, to leave a dry day on Saturday, although probably a little more cloud cover around now, so rather overcast for the most part. Sunday has shaken off the amount of rain it looked like receiving, now just leaving patchy light rain and sunny spells. Attention then falls squarely on the band of rain associated with Friday’s system, and whether or not it will clear in time for Saturday. As we approach Thursday, affairs will begin to solidify, meaning that generally speaking, the pattern that is predicted then should hold firm for Saturday. It’s still 70/30 in your favour, and the system still shows good confidence for your day. All PWS can do is monitor the situation now and advise accordingly. PWS will update tomorrow evening.

Starting to look like rain… booo!

The weather has suddenly turned a little more fluid, enough for Charlotte to call in a second opinion, me [Jonathan Powell]. As it stands, your Saturday seems to be an oasis at present in the middle of a lot of wet weather, both on the Friday, and as stated yesterday, the Sunday. The system points to Tuesday and Wednesday carrying a few rain showers, nothing of great consequence, but rain nonetheless. Thursday looks like a drier and brighter day with some decent spells of sunshine, and only a minimal threat from rain showers. Friday looks more unsettled, as a band of rain crosses your region, and it does indeed look heavy for a time as well, which might be something to consider on the eve of the wedding. That rain pushes clear late on Friday, to leave a dry day on January 8th, with some spells of sunshine. Temperatures for Saturday will reach 4c/39f by ceremony time. Sunday looks wet, as does Monday, and this does give PWS cause for concern. With no one pattern of weather winning out, you must brace yourselves for the possibility of rain on your day, and as saddening as this is, it’s being realistic. The system does show clear at present for Saturday, but we must prepare for a possible different eventuality. PWS will update tomorrow evening.

The wedding is now painfully close. The mixture of panic, anticipation, excitement and fear is making it quite difficult to sleep! Lots of problems with post and bank holidays lol, hopefully everything will come together!

Anyway,  the forecast is looking good, these will be happening daily this week

The weather still looks set fair for your wedding day, although I am watching a band of rain which will be in the vicinity of your location near the time. At present, it looks like arriving on the Sunday, and shouldn’t interfere with Saturday. So, it’s a cold but essentially dry week in prospect in the build up to your day, no snow to cause airport or any other transport delays, and this week will see a fair amount of sunshine around during the daytime, with clear skies by night. Temperatures will climb to around 3 Celsius by day, but drop below freezing by night, which will generate some frost activity, and one or two frosts could be on the sharp side. Saturday at present looks dry with some sunny spells, and temperatures during the daytime should get up to 2 Celsius by 1 p.m., peaking at 3 Celsius by 2.30 p.m., but quickly falling away after dark, with an overnight low of -2 Celsius. Cloud will build Sunday night, and there is the possibility that it will rain into the early hours of Sunday morning. We shall keep an eye on this system, as it appears to be the only troublesome weather phenomena around that could possibly upset the wedding day as it stands at present.

At present, the PWS system shows January starting on a reasonably mild and dry note, with some sunny spells around. After a couple of days into 2011, the system is picking up some rain, which will with a drop in temperature, readily turn to snow. The snow is not expected to amount to much, so there is no immediate cause for concern. The snow quickly fades away to leave us with several dry days up to January 8th, where our system shows another band of rain is making its presence felt. Friday January 7th looks reasonably dry and mild, whilst the 8th does see a couple of rain showers, but nothing substantial. Sunday 10th is showing more in the way of rain. I wouldn’t read a great deal into this, as the weather patterns look quite unstable in the early part of January, with no one theme or trend winning out, and when this happens, reliability and general forecast confidence is low. So, as it stands, it’s looking unstable around the wedding date, but the percentages seem in your favour for it to at least not be cold, but there is the threat from some rain. Normally, we would advise clients to wait until the forecast goes daily before any possible rethinking is done with regards to timing of outside photography etc.

In case anyone was wondering, no, I’ve not done Christmas cards this year! I have however made wedding favours 😀

Winter continues to grind the UK into the ground, but as we head towards the festive season, change is on the horizon. At present, the cold air positioned to the north has the upper hand, but to the south and west, milder air is beginning to advance and make inroads into the dominant cold, which has gripped the UK for the past 4 weeks. The big question is, exactly how long will it hold on for? Here’s my televised forecast on BBC News 24 from last Monday, click on link.

However, the battle will continue for dominance, and the ‘battle lines’ will determine who gets a White Christmas and who doesn’t. After Christmas, it looks a little bit clear cut, with milder air beginning to dominate. So what of the wedding week, well, a shift possibly to milder conditions could indicate some rather bizarrely mild weather around during this time, but I do believe, colder air will push back in, and at present, I’d be inclined to think that you will still have a predominately dry day, and not an overly cold day for your wedding.

Still looking cold and dry for the wedding. Do dress warm, and please do eat breakfast before arriving. I’ve posted up the basic details of what’s going on during the day + some of the menu on our “The Big Day” page. Our toastmaster Alan will be on hand to make sure everyone is where they should be, and the whole day should be a lot of fun with plenty of little surprises

After winter’s opening salvo, a milder spell of weather at present across the UK, but unfortunately quite short lived before the cold returns. In the run up to the festive season, we can expect snowfall and bitterly cold temperatures, and at present, the battle-lines are being drawn between cold air to the north and mild air to the south, as to who ends up with a White Christmas, although at present, Scotland; NE England; E England, and SE England look favourites to see some snow. This battle will long be over by the time we approach your wedding day, and from what I can see of conditions this morning, I’d concur with the majority of the previous forecasts PWS has issued, it’s looking dry but cold. For a time, milder air did seem to be making inroads across the UK, but it now looks as though colder conditions will win out. Having said that, not extreme cold as we’ve experienced in December, more manageable cold. I’d say, a chilly but dry day, with some decent spells of sunshine and a low threat from wintry weather. We shall update you next week.
